Travel is a big part of everything we do at CLAE. Whether for pleasure or work, travel fuels our creativity and always inspires. While on a recent bi-annual shoe development trip to Vietnam where we not only put the finishing touches on our A/W 2012 collection, but also prepared for the launch of Spring 2012, we made a short film that captures just a glimpse of the energy we experienced during our daily moped commute through the chaotic streets of Ho Chi Minh City.

Vampires are having their day -- from teen literature to leading tv shows -- but no modern interpretation has or will ever strike a chord with us like Tony Scott's 1983 cult-classic, The Hunger. David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve star as a vampire couple living in NYC with a sexy young Susan Sarandon as the object of their affections. The soundtrack, featuring Schubert and Bauhaus and lots in between, plus a generous helping of stylish eighties elements make for an addictive movie that we turn to again and again. On a hot steamy July evening at the close of men’s market week in New York City, Clae celebrated its tenth anniversary with an intimate, family affair hosted by LTD and Modelo on the penthouse rooftop of the Hotel on Rivington. New York City in the 80’s saw a culture clash that would shape our future. Reggae met hip-hop and gave birth to Dancehall which gave birth to a whole new level of dressing – English style by way of the West Indies, redefined in Brooklyn. Today marks the 30th anniversary of Bob Marley's passing. His life brings to mind a film titled "Land of Look Behind," released in 1982. For the filmmakers, a project that began as a desire to document Bob Marley's funeral procession through Kingston, Jamaica developed into a passion project that portrayed the people, the culture, and the magical spirit of Jamaica in a way that has never been seen before.
